Narrow Dog to Carcassonne

We're on our way to carcassonne next month, I love this book,wish I was 30years younger and could have done the same.

Very drole account of an Englishman's trip through France with his canal boat, wife and whippet.

Quite a funny book...travel guide.. diary... what is it? I enjoyed it anyways.

I thought it was a great read & really enjoyed it. Very different.

I read this because Carcassonne is one of my favourite places in the whole world but.........I very nearly didnt get any further than the first chapter. It was incredibly confusing and difficult to read until I realised there just are NO speech marks in the entire book.It is written under the guise of 'stream of consciousness' which can be translated as 'extreme punctuation laziness'.Once you get...more

Interesting narative, makes you want to go messing around in boats

This is a true story, it is light hearted, very funny and gives a lovely insight into life in France.
