a really interesting book. It is much easier to find book characters to sympathize with more than with an ugly abandoned rat, but this is exactly what this book does. Firmin/Ernie is a rat that knows how to read, hence, a more civilized rat than many people. On top of that, he is more human than many people. Still in the first page, I have bought this book today despite just having started another one yesterday. I was browsing through the shelves when the title attracted me, the first paragraph just sealed the deal. If the book is written with nearly as much elegance and thought as its first page, it should be a great one. To be affirmed or revised in a few days

Voy por la mitad del libro. Quizás sea porque lo leo en inglés, pero no me hace mucha gracia. Lenguaje muy complicado pero sin atractivo para mi, y pasan muy pocas cosas. Será que los libros que le gustan a Firmin no me gustan a mi?

This book had fantastic syntax. Eloquently written. The story itself was cute, but nothing mind blowing. Definitely recommended.
