OK, I'll be honest. I put this book down so many times to start other books, that I'm finally giving up. Not that it's bad...but it just wasn't holding my interest enough.

I loved the main character. I wish I had her wisdom, patience and talent. I appreciated the depth the author goes to describe the setting. She makes it real to me.

Beautifully descriptive African novel - love main character, Angel Tungaraza, an expat Tanzanian living with her family in Kigali. As she bakes cakes for all occasions we meet many colourful characters from all walks of life...highly recommend! Can't wait for the next installment (hint, hint to the author!)

Pretty good, but is just a bridge for me until the next Mma Ramotswe novel.

Was okay to read, but didn't seem to have any structure to it. Too many characters introduced and too much repitition (soooo many "Eh!" and "Uh Uh"s!).

If you liked Mma Ramotswe, this book is for you. Tackling serious topics with ease and compassion. Easy to read, but gives definitely food for thought.

Such a lovely book and i got the opportunity to meet and chat with the author, Gaile Parkin. Such a lovely woman. Book is an easy read it just flows. You never want it to end. Her imagery is classic. You can almost see touch and taste the many cakes.

As he decides which brick to tap, he mutters instructions to himself. What instructions does he mutter?
‘Third brick from the left above the dustbin’
  ‘Four up …….. three across’
  'Three down …….. four across’
  ‘Three up …….. two across’
