I love Pat Conroy - no, I adore Pat Conroy. But this book is a sad shadow of his finest work. His written word is as gorgeous as ever, but his story not so much. It is contrived and forced, and a pastiche of plots that he has forced together. What a disappointment.

Pay Conroy is a great writer. He really has a special way of writing where you can really see the characters and know them. He writes with such detail to everything. Very touching story.

Entertaining, but also predictable. I figured out the book's big secret within the first 50 pages, which made the next 450 pages a bit of a let down.

An absolutely fabulous book. Beautifully written, funny and tragic. I felt like I was part of that group while watched the story unfold.
