Anyone who has had the opportunity to hear Campbell speak understands the true intensity of this man. The beauty is that he delivers such thought with a warm welcome grandfatherly voice. Bill Moyers record stands on its own. The in depth conversations shared by the two men will expose you to the inner depths of your soul....or lack there of.

Granted, this is a dialogue transposed to book, but Campbell makes way to many generalizations about how all the narratives are the same without paying much, if any, attention to key ways that they are different. Many concepts are mind blowing, but in some ways, Campbell overanalyzes myths. I enjoy the mystery and my own interpretation of what "myths" mean to me. Leave it to a scholar to do just that.

Easily one of the greatest books that I have ever read. Campbell is in a class by himself when it comes to mythology. He definitely makes the tolerance of other beliefs very possible by showing and telling how much they all have in common instead of dwelling on their differences.

A guide for life. I think Campbell was brilliant.

Amazing archetypes of the collective unconscious touching on every culture in every era of global societies.
