There were lines that I read, re-read, underlined (in the library book), because I somehow wanted to share the words with someone, to remember them, to make them stick with me. I read this book like I was gorging on something that was delicious, but strangely good for me too. And it was funny.

Beautiful story and portrait of the joy and pain of adolescence as well as the beginning of middle age. I found, however, that Walter McLoud is a bit too precocious-interesting and funny, but slightly unbelievable to someone who was not nearly as well-read as Walter at his age.
