The Innocent

Definitely one of my favourite Ian McEwan novels - it's very suspenseful and an interesting study of post-war Berlin and its politics.

I think McEwan described this somewhere as his one real fizzer. I agree. This never really gets going.

Typical McEwan slow burning plot which suddenly picks up pace with an exciting twist in the middle then you cant put it down! Most enjoyable and up to his usual high standard.

This booked freak my life! It was short but really creepy! Eww!

If you read Len Deighton old (out of print) Cold War spy thrillers, you'd really like this. It's typically McEwan in that it's very short, but it probably would have been weaker had it been longer.

Stunned... A twisted spy novel that you cant expect anymore. You would find appalling for it that the novel was actually in written in 1989

A fantastic read - part love story, part tragedy. An epic in under 250 pages.
