This book is wonderful..Even if you think it is not your kind of story, you will be drawn in by the bravery of the climbers who went through all kinds of hell on Mount Everest. more This book is wonderful..Even if you think it is not your kind of story, you will be drawn in by the bravery of the climbers who went through all kinds of hell on Mount Everest. It takes a special kind of person to even attempt such a thing. I especially enjoyed reading about Scott Fischer. Although he was one of the climbers who lost his life on Mount Everest, I found myself amazed with him. This book really makes you appreciate what we have. When you read this book, the author, Krakauer, gives such a detailed and interesting description of each of the climbers on the mountain during the disaster. Each of their personal stories is unique. Every one of them had their own reasons for taking on Mount Everest. The survivors have all coped and dealt with the aftermath in their own ways as well. The book also touches on the sherpas who risked their lives to make sure other climbers were helped out during the ascent. I highly recommend this book. Krakauer's writing style is one of a kind. Also, as a side note, if you can find the special edition of this book, it is filled with wonderful pictures and additional details!
