I loved the honesty - getting used to the idea of loved into life is tough, takes time.

From the start to the end, Anne Lamott's writing is greatly captivating and keeps her readers guessing as to what she's getting at, then leaves us with great philosophical insight, all the while keeping her humorous input she's so famous for. Although she writes with freedom and confidence, some of her ideas about "faith" may not be what most people expect, but then again, these are her own...more

While I disagree with some of Anne's theology, I love the way she writes about herself and the rawness of her conversion experience with such depth and beauty. Most "Christian" books shy away from emotional honesty and the reality that there aren't always neat, tidy answers to the things we struggle with in life as believers. I loved this book! My friend bought it for me during a time when I felt like I couldn't find my groove with my faith and it managed to sneak in and speak to me when everything else felt wrong.

I love how this book comes from the outside to the inside of becoming a Christian. I absolutely loved this book. Lamott has captured the raw delight of spirituality in the here and now. She tells it like it is and holds nothing back - even in the choice of words. I picked my copy up at Powell's bookstore in Portland (I love that place) and took it with me on my vacation. It was great healing for my soul and brought much refreshment into my life. I laughed and cried...more

I love this book- except the chapter about the man who was mean to his dog. Hate that chapter - I would have taken the dog away- not that it would have done any good!
