The King of Guitar is nearly lucky to be alive as this book tells his own struggle with drugs, alcohol and personal tragedies. He was also very lucky to perform with all top musicians like the beatles, bob dylan, jimi hendrix and so many more.. of course he is the only person to have 3 times enrolled into the rock and roll hall of fame..

Rarely is an autobiography so honest. Tough life, great music.

This is an interesting book by a musical genius who is also very bright and well spoken. Clapton has lived a remarkable life. For instance, he is a self-taught musician who has felt inferior at times because he cannot read music! Most interesting to me as a student of religion is his account of how he finally conquered is addiction to alcohol by surrendering to a higher power and how music has...more

Wow, what an interesting adventure his life has been. How he stayed alive to tell the tale is amazing in itself; tons of drugs, girls, drinking, etc. and still somehow managed to remain popular. Starts well, gets a little slow at the end (once he gets our of rehab for good) but then there just isn't as much craziness at that point.

I liked this book a lot when Clapton was referring to his music and his passion for writing and playing the blues and classic rock. However, at times the explorations into drugs and women get a bit repetative.. but if you like Clapton this is a must read.

Clapton is honest and contemplates his past choices in his book making it a more intimate read. It cannot be easy to tell the world that you were too drunk to remember an entire period of your life accurately. I admire him for debunking a bit of the rockstar myth.

Listened this book as audiobook, and it was read by Clapton himself. Propably that incrised my stars, when I felt like he was telling hus life story to me.The book itself did includ some suprises (won't tell you which, dont wanna spoil the read). But generally what do you expect from a world famous rock star? Sex and drugs and..?
