This book reminded me of how Shatner began writing books about Kirk after Kirk was killed in Star Trek: Generations - I felt like Faulks just didn't like the reboot of the Bond franchise and wanted to go back to the more "honest" days of the Cold War. Having not read the Fleming books, I don't know if Faulks succeeds in picking up where Fleming left off. But I will say...more

If you're a fan of James Bond, this is definitely the book for you. Trademark Bond here, with all the gadgets and action that you would expect from anything Bond.

Very nicely written. Faulks does a good job of copying Ian Flemming's style of writing, as well as showing a complete knowledge of James Bond's history. Highly recommended to all fans of the 007 franchise!
