Great Grisham novel. I find that these works of fiction that are not legal-based are his best work. A Painted House was beautiful and rendered a great picture of life in the South in the 50's. Playing for Pizza was fun, easy to read and the main character "Reek" Dockery is a tragic but loveable figure. Bravo!

I really like Grisham's writing when he venture out of his law territory. Loved this one and other two, skipping christmas and a painted house

This was not one of my favorite books by Grisham. A story of Rick Dockery, a third string quarterback for Cleveland. However the descriptions of Italian food, culture, landmarks and football in this book are tantalizing and fun. 'Twas quite simply, one of the dumbest and strangest books I've ever read. Nonetheless was hard to put down, was determined to get to the end so I could determine if a...more

For those of you that really love the wonderful game of football, this is the book for you to read this summer. The story portrays a troubled third string quarterback who is going through a difficult time in his career, but has not lost the love for the game of football. The story takes place in a city where most of us would not think American Football even exist; Parma, Italy. It is an easy and...more

At first, I thought this was Grisham's love letter to Parma. As I got deeper into the story, I realized that he may have visited there once or twice, and got all of the other information on Italy from the same tourist's book that Rick's girlfriend used throughout the book. The read was very light, football not very deep, and locations that seemed to be an essential part of the...more

I don't like football americano at all... I dont even want to know how it works, but Grisham wrote the book so detailed you could already learn both the basics and the complexities of "football americano", and more interestingly, the life of the people who love and live it. Grazie Grisham! =)

Totally different Grisham. You need to know some of the American Football jargon but I scraped by. Detach yourself from reality as an NLA footballer goes to Italy and leads the local boys forward. It also reminds us though of some of the more importnat things in life. An easy holiday read.

This book is all about football and food. If you don't like or understand football, don't read it. I liked the book, but hated the ending.
