He really drives home the point that its consumers voting with dollars that decided how good the products and the practices used to make those products are determined. Because the consumer cannot see thru any given product's production process we have incomplete information upon which to make a decision. Consumers will pay more for quality, Earth friendly products but right now its impossible to sort thru the real claims vs. the green washing marketing claims of products. The book was good, but I agree with other reviewers that was repetitive and needed more information. On the flip side, there isn't that much information and I'm glad Daniel got this book out and I hope for sequels or updates in the future!   hide

"Ecological Intelligence" by Daniel Goleman is one of my new favorite books, and I strongly recommend it. "Ecological Intelligence" and "Hot, Flat, and Crowded" are absolutely essential reading for the 21st century.

Makes a strong case for more transparence in the ecological and social impacts from the entire lifecycle of the products we buy. Think nutrition labels except with toxins released, greenhouse gases released, sickness caused by these and the working conditions of employees all at your fingertips.

I got it from the library but didn't finish it before I had to take it back. Since I'm studying industrial engineering, it was great to see it incorporated into a book on the impact we have on the earth.
