Fascinating account of quirky languages, but also helps us learn about real linguistics too! Entertaining and educational at the same time

Starts out great, with a history of the attempts to make a perfect language. But covers in detail only the best-known conlangs. Spends too much time on one language and its creator. Needs more Tolkien!

Anyone who is interested in languages will love this book. It's funny, well-researched, and compelling. I appreciated her sympathetic but realistic look at the Esperanto community, especially.
