The beginning is quite funny, but towards the end you get the feeling that Bryson lost interest in the whole thing, probably wanting to turn to his other projects as soon as possible. Not his best book ever. I'd like to read more of him on Africa - but maybe it would be quite difficult for him to be funny without appearing racist.
