I have just finished reading his book and what a beautiful write it is too. The author really shows us indepth of Aubrey's character and she makes you want to care and shelter this girl, to love her and keep her from harm. The tragedy hat this young girl suffers is heartbreaking and having lost a young child myself I can really relate to how Aubrey feels and acts, but also understand why! It's a touching write that once I had begun reading found it very hard to put down. I think I read it in two days due to every day life and many distractions. Love, Aubrey made me cry and smile and is a very engaging read. I would recomend this book to anyone and I think it would also be theraputic for a child who is old enough to read this, if they have lost a loved one and is finding it hard to deal with, I personally think that his could help them through their grief. I don't want o say too much about this story incase it spoils it for those of you hat have not read it just yet...but it is definatley one of my faves that I will be keeping and reading again in a little while. An easy read with so many good qualities to it and especially strength. Great write!! What a beautiful read - A moving story about a young girl who looses two people she loves and is struggling to come to terms with it, plus other issues in between. The writer really gets into the mind of 11 year old Aubrey and brings her to life. You really feel the heartache, good times and her strength. It made me cry in parts, but was well worth the read. This is my most favorite book in the history of books. I seriously hope Suzanne LaFleur writes more books fast. I'm BEGGING my sister to read it.

There is nothing left to eat so she takes the birthday money Gram sent and heads to the store. Tragedy struck and took Aubrey's sister and father, and now her mother has been gone for days. Aubrey thought it was best to ignore the constantly ringing telephone since she had no idea what to tell any caller that might ask to speak to her mother. However, one afternoon she just couldn't ignore the repeated ringing of the doorbell. When she opened the door, she found Gram standing on the porch. What follows is Aubrey's concerned grandmother bustling about asking questions about how long she's been alone and then giving instructions about what to pack since Gram is taking Aubrey back with her. They ride the train from Virginia to the familiar old house in Vermont. This is a very sad book about a little girl whose family was in a car accident. Her father and younger sister were killed. She and her mother were injured. The mother becomes so despondent that three months after the accident she leaves Aubrey alone in the home. Aubrey fends for herself for a week or so until her grandmother shows up and brings Aubrey to her home in a different state. The grandmother is a strong and compassionate, yet strict guardian. All of the characters are well developed except for the mother. She occasionally flits in and out of Aubrey's life. At first I was sad for the mother, but as the book went on I came to despise her. She was never able to be a mother to Aubrey, so this poor little girl lost her whole family. It is a very sad story, but there is hope for Aubrey. My 12 and 13 year old daughters loved reading it.   hide
