This didn't live up to all the hype. It kept reminding me of Twilight. There is even a chapter with the same name, Open Book. I was also annoyed that nothing really happened between the main characters until you get passed the first 200 hundred pages. The only thing I really liked about it was the cover. I'm not in any rush to read the next one in the series.

Everyone seems to be hyped up on this book, but really it was not that good. To tell you the truth it was slightly dissapointing. About 3/4 of the book are tediously boring and pointless. But I must say the ending was pretty good, but still not that great. Some things that peeved me about this book is that the main character Luce is very under developed. Her personality is rather morbid and...more

i really liked this... it was diff. compare to twilight saga. made a nice change to all the vamps. and stuff. found it a bit long and tedious as you didn't get to the gd stuff until the last 5 chapters of the book, the pace was a bit slow for me and although u knew what was goin on or could guess...the author didnt let on until the very end and that was a bit anoying.. plus i found the fact that...more

"Torment! Torment! Torment! Torment By Lauren Kate, where are you? Oh why does thee have to be so far away? Thy cannot bear to live without you!!!" Screams The Monster Of Books. You know you like a book when your itching for it's sequel. Sadly, and it's understandable, that's far away. September far away!! Just so everyone's clear. While everyone is excited for it to be there senior year (next...more

This book is not as good as I expected but it's okay. The plot is predictable in some ways but again, it's not too bad. I enjoy reading some of the pages when Luce and Daniel are together. It's quite romantic and breath-taking. Each character has his very personalities. It's the same reincarnation thing again but overall, I think fans of paranormal romance would love it but it's not something...more

Reviewed by Melanie Foust for TeensReadToo.com Luce was with Trevor the night he died. There was a fire, and only Luce came out alive. When everyone begins to question her - her parents, psychologist, the police - her answers don't satisfy them because she doesn't know. She can't remember what happened. That's how she finds herself at Sword & Cross, a reform school. Things get off to a rough...more

Okay for some reason this books gonna be compared alot to other books, but I sort of have to do this to get my point acrossed. I have read Evermore, and I absolutely hated it. It was very crappy simple-minded writing. This storyline is VERY similar to Evermore, but notched up about 100X better writing and characters and description and all around better book. I know some people that found this...more

Unexpectedly good. Characters: Great, surprisingly for the most part, I liked and felt most of the characters were actual characters and were interesting. Only downfall I felt was Luce's continual attraction to Daniel that made it close to abusive, (i wish she would stand up for herself more) and Daniel didn't have too much going for him besides hot and gorgeous, though he didn't show more...more

Lucinda is starting at a new school, but it's not a normal school. After something happened at her last school she is now at Sword & Cross a reform school. She thinks there is something wrong with her and doesn't want anyone to find out that she is crazy. Then there is Daniel and Cam boys at her school. Both are interesting, but one is more interesting than the other. I really liked this...more

2.0 out of 5 stars just another "fallen" angel book..., November 6, 2009 This vapid tale goes on for a long, boring time before we realize it's just another fallen angel book. The explanation for how and why Daniel is "fallen" is never detailed nor is anything about the relationships between the good and evil forces in this overly long first novel in a planned series...more
