Over all, I really did not like this book. There were parts I have to admit, like the children's utter courage and total sense of family bonds during the war that amazed me and warmed me, but over all it wasn't what I'd call great. Not sure how I feel about it. Picked it up because of the Printz award. I have to take some time to process all the issues that Daisy faced. I actually listened to it rather than read it to make commute time pass quickly. It did. It was interesting.

Hmmm I don't really know how I feal about this book. I kind it hard to believe that children this young could do what these ones did, but it is a book so I can over look that. I was usually just sitting there screaming at the kids not to do something. I read this book so long ago. My favorite character would have to be that one cousin, the one that really didn't talk. a very vivid book. At the beginning i thought it was very strange and almost put it back down. but im glad i didn't. In the end, it is an adorable love story! it was very sad and at a few times made me insanely close to tears. If you have time def. read.
