Blind Side

I am not big on football. The book had more football than the movie did.

The Blindside is an inspirational story of faith and hard work. Bless the Tuohy’s for stepping out on faith and inviting Michael into their home. You do not need to be a football fan to enjoy the book, but it helps. I played football and loved it, but Michael Lewis drones on way too much about the importance of the Left Tackle in the NFL before you are even introduced to Michael Oher.

Perhaps I am biased because I played football and ironically played tackle as well, but this book I believe was an outstanding representation of a young man's struggle to become one of the most prolific lineman in college football. The stories in the book are fantastic because they not only take you back to the events described, but also pull you in wanting to know the next chapter in young Michael Ohers life. I highly recommend this book if you are a fan of football, stories of the "little guy" coming out on top, and of happiness triumphing over misery. As a side note: Being that i have read this book and am convinced that Oher could be the next best lineman in the NFL I am pleased that he was drafted by my hometown team of the Baltimore Ravens. I cannot wait to see what comes of his career.   hide

Super good, great portrait of the most boring position in Football becoming invaluable

It was OK. Good subject matter, but Michael Lewis is a bit of an idiot.

This is a great guy's book. I don't usually seek out sports writers but Michael Lewis is an excellent story teller.

You don't have to love football to enjoy this human interest story but if you do appreciate the modern game it makes the read even more wonderful!

Fascinating story about a sport, race, poverty, chance and the often impersonal forces of life. A tale of urban plight with a football background.
