A very concise book. The protagonist is a seer through which divine speaks. Care has been taken so that the book does not lean towards a particuar faith or religion instead applies universally to all which I found impressive. Gibran is an inspiring poet, and also known as the first to unite Eastern and Western ideas in Arabic poetic form.  The Prophet is a rare jewel of a book- written and illustrated by Gibran himself.  The book embodies compassion, love, understanding and can easily be seen as a companion to any religious book.  Although it's a mere 80 pages, the subject matter is so incredibly deep that one...more

The book embodies compassion, love, understanding and can easily be seen as a companion to any religious book.  Although it's a mere 80 pages, the subject matter is so incredibly deep that one could easily read it over and over and still gain new insights.  Highly recommended for people of all backgrounds.

It doesn't seem like its written by a human being, thats what I always read/hear from people who have read The Prophet and its certainly feels like that. Its a wonderful spiritual journey while I was reading this book. My personal recommendation for people who are interested in this kind of stuff.

The ultimate book to guide your life by.  Many follow it like a Bible.
OMG... ...I cannot believe this book has no rating.  Gibran was a genuis and beautiful wordsmith.  Celebrities, etc read this book.  Princess Diana carried it around with her for some time.  I heard one celeb say he read it, like he'd read the bible.  Gibran talks about life, marriage, children, work, crime, punishment,...more

It's an absolute must read for intellectual snob-like people ;0 or the average joe.  Truly uplifting.  My mother sent it to me and said it was a keeper, and one to read time and time again.  She was right.  Websites post bits of it.  Do a google search, read and excerpt and you'll see what I mean.  You'll love it.  It'll bring you peace.   hide
