All the Pretty Horses (The Border Trilogy)

An excellent story about a cowboy who goes south to Mexico to find his fortune. Filled with adventure and likable characters while making no compromises on the sophistication of the prose, this book will be liked by literary types and those who like a good western. The only part that is irritating about the book is the scenes that are in Spanish. But otherwise, a great novel.

I will never forget the beautiful descriptions of the desert, the terrifying description of the knife fight and cruel indifference of a thunderstorm. McCarthy is a national treasure.
