The first 300 pages of Swann's Way are a bit of a dud- it's just about his childhood and mother obession. The next part,Swann in Love, is far more fascinating.Volume 2, Within a Budding Grove, is also good. This is a character who is always obsessed with someone- this time it's various girls. Most of it is at the sea in Balbec and this part is memorable.
