A Practical Handbook for the Actor

This made me want to join the Atlantic Theater Company

If you've never acted before READ this book. If you have... read it and practice it. If you've been to a Meisner class you will be in familiar territory. It's slim but worth it and the bilbliography (recommended reads) is surprising.

Sure, read Stanislavsky. But this tells you HOW. A PRACTICAL HANDBOOK FOR THE ACTOR was the text reccommended to me by Dr. Eric Engdahl and I must say, I have taken it for my acting bible. APH puts acting in the realm of the "real" and POSSBILE, simplifying it into a small number of do-able techniques. Indeed a VERY practical and basic book to aid young actors.

A nice, concise primer for those who want to practice, and good reminders for the rest of us.
