This is a tour de force on Lessing's work, a novel that speaks to the core of mankind's problem, the lack of "we-ness". It has within it a special kind of prescience that is maybe unique in fiction, in seeing how the world is ganging up on Western civilization. I read this book maybe 18 years ago, lost it and then found it again in a first edition from an Amazon reseller.

Doris Lessing is a favorite. De gustibus et de coloribus non disputandum.I adore her work. Well deserved Nobel Prize.

Intersting premis, however, though I came very close, I never did finish this book. I just couldn't make myself...
