This is probably one of my Seuss favorites. Far from the easy-reader genre, this is a great fairy tale-ish story, complete with moral, that shows imagination, plot, and heart. Not to mention a single idea that has created projects for elementary teachers everywhere (let's make oobleck!)

The story is of Bartholmew, the page to a King who is unsatisfied by the usual things that come out of the sky. In a surprisingly scary bit, he has his magicians make something new...
This is fantastic to read aloud or silently, and Seuss' skill in storytelling is evident.
