I totally disagree with you Mark - I really enjoyed the book - love the characters, love the writer and cant wait for more of her stuff to come out - she has a whole shelf dedicated to her in my bookshelf now.... Patricia cornwell - still dazzlingly brilliant!
This book is unfortunately, not a a great Patricia Cornwell book. Scarpetta is getting tired and the story is just not gripping enough. The earlier Scarpetta books are way better.

This book was a real disappointment, especially after the brilliance of earlier 'Scarpetta' books. Its been a long time since I've had to force myself to complete a book.
the whole series is brilliant.
arguable the best female crime writer on the scene.
her working life as a coroner and inside knowledge really shine through and give the novels depth.
