This was the very first of Harris’ book with the character of Hannibal being shaped and presented to the readers. While Hannibal is a mere supporting character, he accentuates the talent of the main character (Will Graham) in his ability to project and visualize the mind of the insane/schizophrenic villain. A faithful adoption by the movie version, it nevertheless provides thrills to the reader all the way to the surprising ending. Harris’ writing style is more on the characters and their inner thoughts than their surroundings like other authors. In my opinion, the plot is probably the best among the four Hannibal fictions.   hide
