My first Harry Potter book - I skipped over TSS until it was school-required, and I still didn't like it then, but that's besdies the point. As a younger kid, this was a great way to start off the series. Rowling constructed a great storyline for this book that was easily adaptable to a movie setting.  My first Harry Potter book - I skipped over TSS until it was school-required, and I still didn't like it then, but that's besdies the point. As a younger kid, this was a great way to start off the series. Rowling constructed a great storyline for this book that was easily adaptable to a movie setting. As many of these books are, the movie often makes you appreciate the book, often for the presentation of the text on screen in such a powerful way. This was no exception. The movie made me love the book that much more, but I still remember sitting on my living room couch debating whether to fall into the Harry Potter fad that all of my friends had dove into. I'm glad I decided to try it.   hide

the second book the harry potter series,its a book you have been craving to get your hands on if uve read the first part..its darker than the first part with new characters and more challenges for Harry and friends to face...it was actually spooky at time and will have u at the edge of your seat... normally only movies have that effect...but JK manages to do it in books...its filled with suspense...more

I loved Harry Potter.  I want to go to Hogwarts.  I resisted reading them (I mean they are Kids Books right?).  Finally when the 7th book came out, I gave in.  I was so absorbed, I read all 4,700 pages in 28 days.  A record, I am sure J.  I have all 7 audio books (The  British Edition) on my MP3 player and I listen to them whenever I do tasks I don’t enjoy (clean the house,...more

A slow read. Chamber of Secrets is essentially a rehash of the first book without any of the humor and depth that made Sorcerer's Stone so incredible. The plot was weak and uninteresting and the main characters were not further developed(with the exception of a couple side ones).Also, I hope the format of the following books changes.  A slow read. Chamber of Secrets is essentially a rehash of the first book without any of the humor and depth that made Sorcerer's Stone so incredible. The plot was weak and uninteresting and the main characters were not further developed(with the exception of a couple side ones).Also, I hope the format of the following books changes. The start of the story with the Dersley's served a purpose in book one but in this book it seemed pointless and dull. I get it--they're not very nice people. Let's move on already. The ending was also predictable since it was basically the ending of book one in a new setting with a snake. Hopefully, new villians will be introduced in the books ahead.   hide
