I enjoyed how it helped me understand the immigrant's point of view. Bits of it are recognizable as having it's literary roots in history, but this book definitely lets the pictures tell a unique story.
read (read?? there are no words) recently amazing stoytelling completly in pictures.
amazing images of a land... world...which is completly familar and completly alien ...just as Austalia (or any other country may) may feel to immigrants
Stunningly illustrated graphic novel of sorts cleverly captures the strangeness of a new country and the loneliness and trepidation felt by immigrants, as well as the relief and gratitude at the kindness of strangers. No matter what country the reader is from they will be able to relate despite the wordless journey.
wow...magic and such a great work. I have been spending hours with this one...again and again...........a book without words takes you to another dimension.
Beautiful book, but the story was only so-so. Very creative, but I felt that there could have been a lot more said. I Appreciate this book for what it is and it will hopefully inspire a lot of kids to explore new ways to tell their stories.
