This is another great war memoir although I think the most compelling part would be his post-war experience as a Russian POW.

Colonel Hans Von Luck makes varios appearances in the history text books and alternative histories. Read it from the man himself on his point of view of the second world war battlefield. Once you pick this book up to read you are hooked till the end. You

Good read of a determined young man who was a professional soldier. A book of what the other side saw and did during the wwii particularly on D-Day. You'll almost feel sorry his army lost the war.....

These are TRULY the memoirs of a Tanker: "Fear to God and nothing else..." The best order is given by example. Maybe Colonel Von Luck commanded the best soldiers that the German Army had in WWII. I respectfully recommend this book.

This book provides a great view of the soldier's perspective from the "other side". It definitely opened my eyes.

Amazing. Lets you understand that the average German was not some Nazi monster, but just another human being doing his job like any soldier would.

Another gem on combined arms in battle! Luck was in the mix in North Africa, Russia, all the big Wehrmacht fronts. A nice companion to von Mellenthin's Panzer Battles (reputed to be the book Schwartzkopf read before Gulf War I). Wholeheartedly reccommend.
