Fabulous story! Put your cultural differences aside. This book teaches not only the true-to-life lessons of WWII but also the importance of believing in and hanging on to your friendships, particularly those where varied cultures mingle. It definitely promotes a desire to want to learn more about those "happenings" during that war. And if that's what 10 to 14 year olds...more

This is a wonderful story that I read and enjoyed with my 5th grade students. It is a wonderful tale that takes place during the Holocaust period. However, instead of focussing on the horrid events, it is filled with hope and perserverance.

I finished this book in a day. Even though it is a children book, I really enjoyed the plot and the development of the characters. For those who are interested in reading a story about the Jews during WWII, this would be an excellent read for those who want to learn more about how the Danes were defiant against Hitler's extermination tactics and sought to smuggle the Jews to safety.
