Just like Katherine's story (book 2) the beginning is pretty exciting. Then it slows down a bit. I was hoping for more romance..I thought it lacked it a bit. Especially since Meg has been waiting for love for 12 years. I did find Duncan the most heroic of heroes. I have yet to read male character in regency time that ever gave up as much as he did to do the right thing. I was hoping he'll...more

This is a wonderful historical romance. Victorian Literature always pulls at the heart with idealistic, romantic imagery. Mary Balogh's characters are ultra real and relatable. You feel every disappointment, get excited at every new development, and wish for everyone's happy ending.

I have yet to be disappointed in Mary Balogh's books. The third installment in the Huxtable series, featuring Meg's story. Others have described the plot; I will simply add that I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys historical romances.

Margaret Huxtable has raised her siblings and at the ripe old age of 30 is marrying Duncan pennethorne to save him from losing his home. The old scandal of his elopement with his bride-to-be's sister-in-law raises its head again. This time the truth is revealed. (Book three of the Huxtable series) finished 5/31/09

Once again another good one from MB. Margaret/Meg/Maggie and Duncan's story. What I like about Balogh is that she doesn't always have to have "perfect" heroes or heroines. They usually have flaws and sometimes quite obvious and visible. The couple always get their happy endings but it isn't always tied up with a perfect bow in the end. I enjoyed this one.
