A great book for layman (such as my self) who would like a introduction to some of Jung's concepts, in particular his ideas regarding the unconscious and the language of symbols it uses to express. He also makes profound associaitions between between the different cultures of the world and the recurrence of parallel mythical themes in their religious development. For me as a seeker, it answered many questions about the world I wished to explore and certainly, my 'self'. This book motivated to read more of Jung's academic work, which, without this (an MDR) I would never had a hope of understanding.   hide

Excellent and portable!

I have a very early edition of this book (much treasured) and it has helped me un-ravel both myself and people who came into my life. It is a good stepping stone to Jung's other books. the other Boleyn girl by Philippa Gregory.The story of the family of Anne Boleyn and her sister Mary, both used a pawns by the ambitious Boleyn family to gain favour with King Henry Tudor. It's a novel but based on...more

I started reading Jung with this book when I was in High School. I've read many books by and about Jung, but I still think this is the best. I have read many books by or about Jung. This was my first, and it is generally the best. The only one I think that's better is out of print. This reads like your paging through a catalog or encyclopedia of the unconscious.
