more I have read this book about three times, due to the fact that I was a teacher and am now a mother. My oldest daughter has read it twice. This is a great conversation starter between parents and kids. The conflicts that arise in the book prompted us to start talking about faith, good and evil, courage, kindness, individuality, and our deepest fears. As a family we listened to it on audio tape. It was a little scary for my youngest, who is seven and has a great imagination, because he could visualize all of the scary parts a bit too much.
This book is a young adult classic.
