I'm listening to it right now. Very well written and Kate Reading does an excellent job with the narration.

If you thought Book 1 was experimental; and Book 2 would somehow achieve the plots and storytelling standards Jim Butcher applies to Dresden, you definitely will not get it here. The whole invasion thing is so blatantly recycled from Book 1 (just a different form of race / creatures),the characters are so 2 dimensional and the whole premise utterly unconvincing.

I actually started on the second book in this series because I couldn't find the first but I am definately glad I picked it up. A fast pased epic fantasy with a fresh take on magic. Totally addictive.

I like this series and will continue it. I kind of skim some of the battle stuff when it gets too heavy, but I enjoy the characters.

The second book of the Codex Alera series and another great novel. Jim butcher brings back into the world of alera and a world of new mysteries which will keep you at the edge of your seat from Beginning to end.

An improvement from the first book, but still entirely dependent upon the reader's curiosity concerning the characters and not necessarily the story
