Bless Me, Ultima

I read this while visiting the southwest with my family and the story added a whole other dimension to my travels. I highly recommend it for anyone who appreciates spirituality in nature and within and without organized religion.

Such an interesting story.

Much to my surprise, this book has become a favorite. The book is almost in riddles and Anaya never just comes out and says something directly. A lot is up to the reader to decide and interpret. It really was a beautiful story. In all its seriousness, the part with the children in the play was unexpected and hilarious!

Mexican-American magical realism. This book is a treasure that explores the love of family and friends while giving us a look at the life of Mexican-Americans in World War II New Mexico.
