I am not as enamored of this book as many others seem to be. The first two thirds of the book was excellent, as the characters were developed and the plot line was elaborated. The final third of the story was too hectic and disjointed for me. There is much action in that part but it is seemed too manufactured, with too many close calls and dodged projectiles.

Also, Pendergast, the multi-talented and semi-mysterious, main character was not as fully revealed or explained as some of the other characters. That may be because I haven't read earlier books in the series.
