If you're a fan of King you must read this series. Different from his usual horror/sci-fi - these books are his 'magnum opus'.

Once you get used the style of it and get used to the fact that you have NO idea what is going for most of it, it is pretty good.

This is one of the best fantasy books ever written. It is the beginning of an epic seven volume saga and one of King's most widely celebrated novels. This book was actually originally published between 1978 and 1981 as a series of short stories in Fantasy & Science Fiction magazine.
