It's no surprise to me that three of the four short stories in this novella have become major motion pictures. Each story in this book are absolutely captivating, and bring you to a place in your brain that maybe you never knew existed.

I bought it for "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption," but found every story engaging and fascinating in its own unique way. "Apt Pupil" and "The Body" are the novellas hardest to put down, in my opinion, because the pacing and suspense is so much greater. A must read for fans of the films these stories inspired and the kind of people who like satire and...more

The Shawshank Redemption was a good/quick read. Apt Pupil was very interesting. Good example of how stories/experiences can affect a person. The Body - One of my favorite movies was based on this short story, so naturally I loved it.

"The Spy" was the creepiest, and best of the four for it's twisted characters and interwoven plot. "The Body" was less about the gore of a corpse and more of a coming-of-age story about a pack of...more

I received this book as a gift many, many years ago (from someone delicious). It remains one of my favorites, the storytelling for Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption and The Body is great. Both translated onto film well. Apt Pupil was a good story, but the movie was lacking. I received this book as a gift years, years ago and it is one of my favorites from Stephen King. Rita...more

A fantastic collection of four novellas, each with a loose theme from each of the four seasons: (Hope SPRINGS Eternal) "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption" gets the ball rolling followed by "Apt Pupil" (The SUMMER of Corruption), "The Body" (FALL from Innocence - this was adapted into the movie "Stand By Me") and finally...more
