This book was excellent! Without a doubt a page turner, that drove inside me a need to know what would happen next. I've read several of Stephen King's books, and though not the biggest fan I find this particular book quite a refreshing read. His ability to play with the psychological aspects of not only the characters but the reader gives him the ability to craft fantastic works of literature. I enjoyed this book very much, I would definitely recommend it to anyone with 2-3 days time to just crunch through it, and in his normal fashion Stephen King leaves you wanting more.   hide

Utterly brilliant novella. Only read it for the first time a few months ago and wish I had read it when I was younger. An ultra conservative, futuristic vision of the American Dream. If TV producers could get away with filming events like this, make no mistake they certainly would.

Great book. Very well written, and makes you think.

My favorite Stephen King book so far.

I never would have thought this story would be so amazing but King usually works his magic best on stories that are the most basic. I put off reading this book for years because I didn't like the premise but I was wrong to do so. Probably my favorite King book after the Stand this book follows a group of boys literally walking for their lives. A must read

Not one of my fav

This is Stephen King's first novel. Reportedly written while he was a freshman in college. It's a good read with an interesting theme.

i first read this when i was about 10 years old and have never forgotten it. Finally found another copy a few years ago and read it again, and was still just as moving. If this story is true as claimed then is a record of one of the most amazing escape sotries ever, well worth a go

This really got to me years ago when I first read it. I enjoyed it this time, but it didn't quite have the same effect.
