Love that JB bring back the detective aspect of the character. But this book is more a set up than his previous books. Good story line. I wish he spent more time doing investiagation because that is when this character shine. Not a bad book as a set up for the bigger fight to com.e How can you go wrong with Jim Butcher. Exciting story line. Fast pace. Suprising ending.

I like the series so no surprise I enjoyed this one too - but am missing some of teh over the top lightness that made the dinosaur scene in Last Rites so great.

Latest book in the Dresden Files is continues in fine tradition. There is the usual array of unbeatable foes and catastrophis situations, but Harry seems to be growing up a little bit, tries to think a little more, and confronts some old foes with some new ideas. The Master Plot - whatever that is - comes a little closer to the surface, and a development many fans have been waiting for almost...more

Not bad, but not as good as the others. It felt...forced, more contrived than the previous books in the series. And I don't know what to make of Luccio and Harry together - again, it seemed far too forced and sudden. There was no build up at all there. I'm still cheering for Murphy. Overall, pretty good. Can't wait for the next volume in the spring.

Jim Butcher blew me away again. The Dresden Files books just keep getting better and better (and more complicated, and tied together--start with Book One, and not in the middle of the series, like I did). This is truly a Harry Potter for grownups. There is sex, magic, Bob the Skull, wonderful humor, fairy tales come to life...a truly magical series, with each book I read, it just gets better. ...more

Dresden is back and this one drags in almost everything but the kitchen sink for characters from the past. The strength is Jim growing with his character. The weak is maybe too much from the past crowding into the book. Still it's a great romp and you know there will be more. Bet on it. I know I can't wait for the next one.

Not bad, but I felt like the books were getting better and better, and this one slipped backwards a bit. Definitely not a fan of the Luccio happenings.

So, after a while, you realize that Harry Dresden has really really turnedinto Bruce Willis this time, including the ridiculous hijinks, the amazing pain tolerance and the WTF factor. But it was still an exciting book- and Murphy's words in the end make me wonder if something really cool is going to happen soon.
