I was brought up on the old TV series from the 60s about The Invisible Man and of course he was a 'good guy' so I wasn't prepared for the psychopath that is the central character for this novel. The novel is not well developed - an interesting supposition and plot mind you and in many ways ahead of its time.

It's a horrible story! Most of the movies that have been done are much better, less dark. Horrible book! would not recommend it!

I don't like books in which you can't identify with the main character. Wells probably intended to explore the darker aspects of human nature the horrid things that people can do, but the invisible man is pathologically mean; and kind of stupid too, despite his unlikely successes in the lab. That's what I get for reading random books I find in my boyfriend's mom's house, I guess.

Very interesting story. Wells clearly had a vibrant imagination. The story can be just a tad confusing, but still rather entertaining.

Didn't really like the book because it felt like it just carried on way too long and gave no detail about the invisible man or the man himself.

Pretty good little book. The ending wasn't what I expected and that is a good thing. I don't have anything profound to say other than that. It did make me think about the perils of invisibility.

Considering the era in which it was written the imagining of this book is mind blowing. Wells's setting of extraordinary events around ordinary humans and the fallout this causes is extremely effective and the corruption of the title character by his ability coupled with the price he has to pay for it all combine in quite a tragic tale. Makes you think but don't be expecting a cheerful...more
