I originally read this book in elementary school. I don't know what possessed me to pay the book order money to do so, but it proved to be well worth it. The story of a year in the life of the March family. While their father is away in the Civil War, the four March sisters, Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy, and their mother, work hard to maintain a happy and peaceful home. this book in of itself is a complete and utter masterpiece. I've read it so many times and find myself crying everytime. It's a beautiful book and I love how every character is so drastically diferent from each other, despite being sister's. It's a very well thought out book, with endering characters that makes the reader love each and every one of them. I will always be reading this book, and...more

And reading this one I owe it to my mum... she made me do it. I think I was caught reading a comic book or something that was not well seen at home, there was this series of 'adventure' comics in Mexico that were rather gory for a young boy of barely 8 years of age, so I got treated to reading this book from Louisa May Alcott. As a kid, I read this book at least three or four times, and loved it. As an adult, I re-read it, and while I still loved Jo, I found the book intensely annoying. The writing is awful! Every sister has to have her say in every conversation, even if it's only to say, "Me too!" And Beth is such a saintly little sufferer that I just couldn't wait for her to shuffle off her earthly coil. That said,...more
