Ok... I realize that I'm about to be de-friended by a dozen or so people, but didn't like this book!! It took me almost 10 weeks to finish... not because I'm a slow reader, but because I had little to no interest in the plot/characters... so I didn't devour it like most books. Alot different from what i figured it would be, maybe its becuase i am older, but i found it very sweet, nicey-nicey, and syrupy. Still good, especially the last 100 pages or so, those were my favorites. Review, review... how can I review such a work of total genius. I have loved this book for so long and have seen every film version made. I am a sister of 3 sisters whose father was a soldier and never home (turned out that that was very different from Pa March!) and just mum and an added bonus nana to bring us up. I first encountered this book at age 8 in a bowdlerized version, thought it nice enough but a bit soppy, and lost interest in pursuing any more of Ms. Alcott's works. I was expecting something very "proper" and was pleasantly surprised when I realized that the four March girls were depicted as real girls, with their qualities and their shortcomings.
