I had to read this book for AP European History, and I have to say that it definitely was one of my favorites out of all my reading list books, especially compared to those other deathly boring drags that I fall asleep to unless I use cliffnotes. In fact, I didn't even read the cliffnote chapter summaries as I went along with this book, and I still understood what was going on! (I'm pretty sure that's a huge accomplishment for me!) Since I am used to excruciatingly boring school books, and this one was decently short and understandable and not painfully boring, I liked it!   hide

story of a man who believes in nothing i.e.a NIHILIST...relation with parents and his love story!!!!

I loathed Bazarov, I admired him and lastly I moarned him. This 18th century novel is eternal as it speaks of the essence of being human.

This is not a happy read but one laying out basic differences in generations. While set in the 1850s its message is timeless. The love of the parents for an unlovely son is wonderfully captured
