My favourite play - absolutely brilliant. Typical Chekhov - not much happens, yet so much is happening with the characters. Russia is changing and nothing can stop change.

It's so much easier to come up with a bad review. This was a play essentially about nothing. By this I mean nothing happens. People talk about nothing. People do nothing about the nothing that is going on. People don't want their house and cherry orchard sold. It gets sold. Some minor character dies for no reason whatsoever, but no one is there to notice. The end. Yeah, I realize there's more...more

This is probably one of those plays that you should see performed after you read it. It just seems that I was missing something throughout the entire time I was reading it.

difficult to read if you're not familiar with pronouncing names such as 'Ranyevskaya' but is still a very worthy read.
