The Cherry Orchard (Dover Thrift)

My favourite play - absolutely brilliant. Typical Chekhov - not much happens, yet so much is happening with the characters. Russia is changing and nothing can stop change.

Best play ever. Make sure to get a good translation. Its hilarious.

Not particularly spectacular, but entertaining enough to pass the time.

People do nothing about the nothing that is going on. People don't want their house and cherry orchard sold. It gets sold. Yeah, I realize there's more to it, and of course I realize the symbolism of the old guy dying while the cherry trees are being chopped down, out with the old guard eh? I still don't care. This is probably one of those plays that you should see performed after you read it. It just seems that I was missing something throughout the entire time I was reading it.

difficult to read if you're not familiar with pronouncing names such as 'Ranyevskaya' but is still a very worthy read.
