Killing Dance is my favorite. This is my second favorite. The drama, mystique and political intrigue really come to a head in this one. And it is also the introduction of my second favorite character, Asher. I think it's a testament to LKH's writing abilities that you had something like 10 new characters introduced in one book and I never got confused. Not to mention the introduction of the whole Vampire Council in the plot. I mean we dealt with the Earthmover but that was like... what? Four books ago? Plus this whole drama with Asher and Jean-Claude... There was a lot going on to say the very least. But I never got lost in the fray. All in all, it's one of her best... a good balance of sex, political intrigue, mystery and horror.   hide

i've ALL of the anita blake books... im sooo deprately waiting on the 16th book to come out next spring/summer. it's called Blood Noir... yay.. cant wait. it you havent tried the merry gentry books yet... PLEASE do... they are just as good..

I think the series is getting worse. Just more and more about the main character and sex. Get over it! More adventure and excitment! A few stronger female characters who get some action would be appreciated as well.

This is my Favorite book in the series!! From beginning to end i Loved it! Anita is at her sociopathic best and given the circumstaces i dont blame her!
