smut with a plot? everyone seems to like these books for their steamy-ness and their female-perspective-oreanted detective stories. frankly i found it the most poorly edited piece of trash I've read and didn't bother finishing it. to be fair the writing itself is pretty good. i just have no patients for reading the same paragraph over and over because of an incopotent editor. also...more

are we trapped in 1980? seriously? she tried to tell me that a mullet was "the latest style" and I think she meant it. my god. and pagers? really? pagers and payphones? families with one phone in a house? omg it's like the twilight zone. additionally, to anita and jean-claude: just do it already

Despite the staggering number of books in this series that have been written, I don't think Hamilton really has the steam to keep it going properly since the first one. More excessive, unnecessary violence and gore, more childish sexual innuendo, and a new character who wants to be interesting but just seems to fall flat...
