Incubus Dreams (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, Book 12)

I really like the action parts of these books much more than the sex.

I am writing on this book so I do not have to add all 11 books before this one. As much as I have enjoyed the series, this book marked the end of my adventure with Anita Blake. I was enthralled with the series, but it has turn into so much soft porn...everytime I see the new books out I want to reach for them, but it was too much. Maybe in a few years I will pick them up again.

I am really disappointed in this Anita Blake book. The beginning of the series was mind blowing but as the series goes on it just gets worse and worse. Way too much meaningless sex. There is no passion or purpose to Anita's erotic romps with the vamps and furries. She's become a dog in heat, fucking anything and everything willing enough to hump. Her love life is way too complicated so that Anita, the strong, stubborn woman we have come to know and love has been reduced to a whiney, confused and frightened little girl that spends hundreds of pages drawing out the questions "What am I supposed to do?" and "How do I do this?" It is pathetic. I never thought when I started this serious that I would ever say this but: Anita, stop being a whiny preaching bitch and deal with it. Laurell k. Hamilton better do something to pull this series out of the crap hole or she's going to be disappointing a lot of Blake Fans and losing readers left and right. The best of luck to her. Ae.   hide

This story had the potential to be good. It was not. Yet another sloppy story written by what was once a great author. I am no longer sure why i bother reading these books, and cannot recommend this one to anyone for anything beyond starting a fire, or if you run out of Toilet Paper. A story about a woman who suffers from a condition which hightens her libido and has organised a convenient line of men to satisfy the urges(s). Therein lies a long succession of details about variations in S&M dressing, and discussion regarding sexual preferences etc etc. Very occassionally we are reminded that the main character is an executioner of vampires. Largely mindless softporn dribble....more

Wayyyyy too much sex and not enough story. Laurell is spending way too much time working through her personal issues in her books and having gone through a divorce and finding herself in the process.
