Have you read Lewis, Shakespeare, ...the Bible? Nevertheless, my biggest beef with this series is not the sorcery, which is not dangerously realistic but very creative. What most concerns me is the blatant disregard for rules, and the stubborn refusal by the author to include any behavior worth emulating. Harry is consistently a jerk, making perpetually absurd choices, never learning from them, and always concluding as the hero. I prefer a story with a real hero. Otherwise, they were a lot of fun, and certainly gripping.
